FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know to book with confidence — from pickup to drop-off, we've got you covered.
GETTING STARTED
Who can rent a vehicle with Key2Fleet?+
Anyone of legal driving age with a valid, current driver's license is good to go. You'll be the main driver on the booking — if you'd like to add someone else, just let us know ahead of time and we'll get them approved.
Do I need to be 25 or older to rent?+
Not at all! Renters under 25 are welcome — there's simply a young driver fee that we'll show you clearly at booking, so there are no surprises.
What should I bring when I pick up the car?+
Just your driver's license and the payment method you booked with. Take a minute to look the car over at pickup and flag anything you notice — it's a quick step that keeps your rental experience smooth from the start.
Can someone else drive the car I rented?+
The vehicle is booked under your name as the driver. If you'd like a friend or family member to share the driving, reach out and we can get them added as an authorized driver first.
How do I pay?+
Booking and payment run smoothly through our Wheelbase platform. Any extras that come up can also be handled through your card on file, or digital options like PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, Wise, or Zelle — whatever's easiest for you.
BOOKING, DEPOSITS & CANCELLATIONS
Can I get my deposit back if my plans change?+
Your reservation deposit locks in your vehicle and covers the planning that goes into holding it for you, so it's generally non-refundable. That said, we look at these on a case-by-case basis, so feel free to reach out if something comes up.
Is a security deposit required?+
For rentals under 3 days, we hold a simple $200 security deposit — it's fully refundable and just protects against things like unexpected cleaning or damage. Book 3 days or more, and typically no deposit is needed at all. Refunds are quick, usually within 14 business days of your return inspection.
Can I extend my trip?+
Absolutely — just request it through Wheelbase at least 3 days before your scheduled return, and we'll do our best to make it happen based on availability. Once approved and paid, your extra time is locked in.
REFUNDS
What if I need to return the car early?+
We know plans change! While rental payments are generally non-refundable, we're happy to look at partial refunds on a case-by-case basis once the vehicle's back with us and inspected. Keep in mind a portion may go toward the time already reserved.
How long does a refund take?+
Once approved, refunds move fast on our end — typically 3–5 business days after inspection. From there it's just your bank's turn-around time to post the funds.
MILEAGE, TRAVEL AREA & TRACKING
Is there a mileage limit?+
Nope — drive as much as you'd like anywhere in Georgia, mileage is unlimited.
Can I take the car out of state?+
Sure thing! Just give us a quick heads-up before you head out, and a flat $50 fee covers you for the whole trip — no matter how far you go.
Does the car have GPS?+
Yes, our fleet uses GPS to help us keep every vehicle safe, secure, and running smoothly for all our renters.
FUEL, CLEANING & VEHICLE CONDITION
What fuel/charge level should I return the car with?+
Just bring it back at the same level you picked it up with, and you're all set. For our EVs, apps like ChargePoint make it easy to plan charging stops along your route.
What if the car needs extra cleaning when I return it?+
We keep our fleet spotless for every renter, so a standard cleaning fee ($350) applies for heavy messes, and $150 for pet hair or specialty detailing. A quick wipe-down before drop-off goes a long way!
What if I notice a scratch or ding that wasn't from me?+
Just snap a photo and let us know in writing before you drive off — it takes a minute and makes sure your rental starts on a clear, worry-free note.
What if something feels off with the car during my trip?+
Give us a call right away. If it seems unsafe to keep driving, go ahead and pull over safely and we'll guide you from there — we want you back on the road safely, fast.
TOLLS, TICKETS & LATE RETURNS
Who covers tolls and tickets during my rental?+
Those are on the renter, since they're tied to how the car was driven — tolls run through pay-by-plate with a small $10 handling fee, and traffic violations include a $50 processing fee alongside the ticket itself.
What if I run a little late on drop-off?+
We build in a 30-minute grace period, no questions asked. After that, a $25/hour fee applies (up to 3 hours), or a full day's rate beyond that — so a quick heads-up if you're running behind helps us help you.
What about a late payment?+
If a payment slips past its due date, a $50 fee applies, plus $5 for each additional day — easy to avoid with a quick payment update if timing gets tight.
ACCIDENTS, INSURANCE & LIABILITY
Am I covered by insurance?+
Yes! Key2Fleet makes a protection plan available right at checkout through our booking platform, so coverage is just a click away when you book. If you'd rather use your own personal auto insurance instead, that works too — either option gets you covered for your trip.
What happens if there's an accident, or the car is stolen?+
First — just breathe, and give us a call. We'll walk you through next steps and handle the claims process together. In rare total-loss or theft situations, the vehicle's value (minus anything insurance covers) is worked out fairly using standard industry pricing guides.
USING THE VEHICLE FOR WORK
Can I drive for Uber, Lyft, or delivery apps?+
We're happy to consider it! Just reach out for approval first so we can make sure you're set up right — insurance-wise and platform-wise — before you hit the road for work.
Can I make changes to the vehicle (GPS, odometer, etc.)?+
We ask renters to keep the car as-is, since our fleet's tech (GPS, odometer, etc.) helps us keep every vehicle safe and reliable for the next renter too. If something needs adjusting, just give us a call and we'll help.
QUESTIONS ABOUT A CHARGE
What if I have a question about something on my bill?+
Reach out to us first — we're quick to respond and glad to walk through any charge with you. Most questions get cleared up in one conversation, and we'd always rather sort it out directly than through a bank dispute.
